D12 - RADIO - Is it true that 2.4Ghz radios cannot be affected by outside interference ?

NO - ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Although the modern 2.4 GHz radio systems we mostly use today are safe from having the aircraft "taken over" by another pilot switching their radio on when it uses the same frequency, known as "bombing", because they identify each other with totally unique digital GUID's, other outside influences can still cause us problems.

The most common problem is interference on the frequency from such items as mobile (cell) phones, you can also get interference from wireless network systems in houses, as they also use a part of the 2.4GHz spektrum.

The best bet is to turn cell phones OFF when anywhere near a flying area, and to not fly close to houses that may have wireless networks installed and working.

HOPE THIS HELPS ... ?
